Exciting times at the Parke household...

SO...we have some exciting news around here!  I am very aware that I haven't posted in a while, and have some serious updates, but onto the exciting news!
Kylee (who is in the 9th grade), tried out for the high school soccer team, and out of the 80+ girls that tried out, she made the JV/Varsity team!!!  She worked her fanny literally off.  She is worn out, tired, sore, but most importantly SO FLIPPING EXCITED!!!!!!!  She has had this dream for the last 10 years of playing soccer, and now it is reality!  She will most likely play most of her time with the JV team, but she will dress for all of the varsity games as well...and who knows she may have some playing time with some 18 year old girls!!!  We are so excited for her!!!

Also, Cade tried out for the 6th grade football team, and he made the "A" team!  He is so excited, he loves football, and for how skinny he is, he sure can hit!  So proud of you little dude!  Way to put your mind to it and make it happen!!!

Lone Peak Knights - 3rd grade Football

Cayden's football team had such a great year! His team made it to the playoffs, their first game they won 20-6! He had the Championship game yesterday at Pleasant Grove HS, they played on the turf, with an announcer! It was actually pretty cool! Grandpa Parke, and my mom and dad came to support him, and to watch.

Cayden was really angry all morning...he was super nervous, and the only way he knew how to express it was with being MAD at everyone! I felt so bad for him, because he was so nervous that he couldn't eat anything, his stomache hurt so bad. The team that they were playing was the only team that had beat them in the season, and they won them 12-0. They were both about the same when it came to talent, but we were definately the underdogs.

They played hard, they played their best, but they came up short. It was so sad for him. He has lost baseball games, and never let it bother him, he lost soccer games and didn't think twice, but this really upset him. After getting their medals for 2nd place (out of 12 teams), they had some pictures, and then he went up and thanked his coaches. Jared, the defensive line coach, was Cayden's favorite by far. He didn't have any kids on the team, infact he doesn't have any kids yet! He coaches because he loves it, and he took a liking to Cayden. Cayden walked up to him and thanked him for coaching him, and then Cayden just started to sob. He had been crying earlier, but really lost it when he was talking to Jared. It was so tender, Jared got down on one knee, and talked to Cayden, and told him how much he loved coaching him, and that he loves his passion for the game. What a great guy. It is people like him that have an impact on your children, and the amount of their impact, they will never know.

We are so proud of Cayden and his accomplishments with football. He was the kid on the first day of practice that had zero experience, and fought, and earned his way to the starting team on both offense and defense. He also earned the spot of kicker/punter. He didn't even come out of the game for 1 minute (unless of course he gets trampeled on!) He was the kid that told the coach what position he wanted to play and the coach informed him that all of those positions were already taken...little did they know that Cayden would work is tail off, be to every single practice, and earn the spots he wanted. In every single practice they would run...run...run, and Cayden would come in first by yards over the other boys! This is something that Cayden truly has a passion for, and I am so glad that he gets to have his own personal thing, and all of the glory that goes along with it. Sometimes it is hard to have an older sister that his so athletic, and have to live in her shadow. WTG Cayde, we love you!
